What's the point?

Why do we do it?

At LPPA we are committed to providing the best possible experiences for our youngest learners. We work hard to continue to reflect upon our practice and experiment with new styles of learning.

Within our modern world children have plastic at their fingertips... it is meaningless! Children learn that plastic doesn’t need to be cared for. It feels the same, it smells the same and is brightly coloured. And do you know what else? They know it's disposable! Cups, plates and duplo can be flying around the classroom because it isn't being cared for in a meaningful way.

We, as a collective, wanted to explore a more meaningful learning experience. One where children are surrounded with different textures, lighting, sights and sounds. One where objects need to be respected, investigated and have an endless amount of learning opportunities. That's not to say that there can't be meaningful learning experiences with plastic based toys and objects... but how magical for a tea party to be shared between peers with real cutlery, real china and yes - you guessed it, real liquid!

We have worked hard as a team to create zoned areas of learning, all of which are like a second home. A place where children feel safe, secure and valued. A space where language is promoted and is meaningful to all children. Meaningful, magical experiences are being had every second of the day - don't miss it!
