Principal's Message:

What another awesome week we've had!

This week has brought lots of cooking. Our children in Bramley have been busy making jam tarts with Mr Ashenhurst and Year 4 have been making some delicious pizzas! These are wonderful examples of how our Primary Years Programme allows for these opportunities and promotes children to take action with their learning.

Furthermore, we have lots of trips now being organised throughout the year. We understand that there is a cost for these and, unfortunately, as the school does not receive funding specifically for this, we do have to ask for contributions to make these possible. If, for any reason, you are experiencing financial challenges please reach out to the academy as we may be able to point you in the direction to seek support.

Today we welcomed Dan and Ellie from Internet Legends. They spent a lot of time with our KS2 children, exploring how to stay safe online and make really positive and responsible choices. It was a brilliantly interactive assembly and they specifically commented on how well behaved the children were. In fact, they said that our children were the best behaved they have seen from their travels around different schools. We are so proud of children representing the academy in this way.

On Monday, we are going to be sending a small group of children to a LAT rounders tournament at Molehill Primary Academy. I'm sure we are going to smash it and further demonstrate our impeccable behaviour and sportsmanship.

And finally, those who live on the estate may have seen Mrs Carter and I taking a walk with a member of KCC. Excitingly, we are looking to introduce a "Walking Bus" to the community and plotted the routes (including the "bus stops") that would be most convenient for our families. There is lots more exciting news to share and this will be shared in good time as we are still in the early stages of implementing it, so watch this space!

Have the loveliest of weekends!
Miss S Brading

Contacting the class teachers:

If you have concerns that you would like to raise with the academy, please do so via the office email address which is contactus@langleyparkprimaryacademy.org.uk. Upon receipt, your email will be directed to the relevant member(s) of staff.

We respectfully ask that you address any concerns or issues with your child's class teacher in the first instance. If it remains unresolved then your concern will then be escalated to Mrs Neame, Vice Principal. In the unlikely event that it continues to remain unresolved, it will be escalated to Miss Brading at that point.

We are also aware that some parents continue to email staff directly. In the event that this happens, staff have been asked to forward your email to the aforementioned email address to resume communication via the correct channels.

National Online Safety Guide

Behind video-sharing platforms, such as YouTube, and streaming TV shows and movies, gaming is the third most popular online activity for children in the UK. In fact, according to recent data from Ofcom, an overwhelming 89% of children aged 3 to 17 play video games and, of those, more than one in five (22%) talk to other players online who they do not know outside of the game they may be playing.

The risk of contact from strangers is just one of the reasons that many parents and carers are concerned about their child's gaming. Increased screen time, inappropriate content and in-game spending also figure among the most frequent fears. Agreeing on some rules around your child's gaming activities can certainly help, and the below guide features some useful tips for establishing such boundaries.
