Principal's Message:

The first week back has been a brilliant start to the term. Year 6 pupils have started rehearsals for their end of year production following a round of great auditions that took place last term. The children are also engaging with a programme called "Raising Aspirations". This is centred around developing and understanding different careers and what is entailed, to embark upon a career journey; for example, they have created a game based on the attributes they have. This is the first time we have participated in this programme so we are looking forward to seeing how it develops.

We have also had our first "Charity Tuesday" for this term. Freya, in Year 5, ran a bake sale for Rainbow Trust Children's Charity, raising £82.50 in total. A huge thank you to everyone who bought one of Freya's tasty treats and well done Freya for your fundraising efforts.

You will have noticed that the fence line between our Nursery and Year 2 classrooms has been moved forward. This now means that all doors leading directly into the academy building are now behind a secure fence line. I hope that you can see how important it was that this adjustment be made. With this adaptation, there will be a minor change to the drop off arrangements in September which will be explained in preparation for the start of the new academic year.

Next week, our Year 6 pupils will be going on their residential trip to PGL. I am sure that there will be many updates to share with regards to this as they embark on this core Year 6 experience!

Have a lovely weekend.

Miss S Brading

Office Reminders:

A gentle reminder that no dogs (except service dogs) are permitted on the academy site and it is also a non-smoking zone - this includes vaping. Please can you also ensure that any litter is taken home with you or placed in one of the many bins around the site. Thank you.

Contacting the class teachers:

If you have concerns that you would like to raise with the academy, please do so via the office email address which is contactus@langleyparkprimaryacademy.org.uk. Upon receipt, your email will be directed to the relevant member(s) of staff.

We respectfully ask that you address any concerns or issues with your child's class teacher in the first instance. If it remains unresolved then your concern will then be escalated to Mrs McRobb, Vice Principal. In the unlikely event that it continues to remain unresolved, it will be escalated to Miss Brading at that point.

We are also aware that some parents continue to email staff directly. In the event that this happens, staff have been asked to forward your email to the aforementioned email address to resume communication via the correct channels.

National Online Safety Guide

OmeTV is an emerging social networking app that aims to let its users connect, ideally forming new friendships or simply providing the opportunity to meet interesting people from all around the world. It is not particularly new technology, but has remained popular among younger audiences. OmeTV uses video chats to randomly connect its users, much like its better-known sister app, Omegle.

Unfortunately, OmeTV still carries the same risks as its competitors. With so many users being so lightly regulated, there is real potential for some unpleasant characters to make use of the app. The below guide closely examines OmeTV, highlighting the many risks and advising you on how to keep your child safe on the app.
