Principal's Message:

We have had lots going on again this week for both pupils and staff. Preparations are underway for World Book Day with our dress up day being on Friday 8th March.

Year 5 have continued with their Street Smarts programme in preparation for walking to and from school independently after Easter. We continue to hear how mature and sensible they've been within the sessions.

On Wednesday, our wonderful staff took time to meet up and collaborate with staff teams from our other local trust schools; Tree Tops, Molehill and Oaks. The beauty of being part of a big organisation means that we get to share all the wonderful things we are doing here, but also hear about other schools too and get lots more ideas.

Today we have also been visited by a representative from OPAL to see how we are getting on with our journey. Needless to say, she was extraordinarily impressed, especially with the children's knowledge and how they discussed OPAL. To quote a Year one child "We keep safe by doing a risk benefit assessment. For example, we must keep the sand in the sandpit and only use the toys in the sandpit."

And finally, our brilliant Year 6 children will be finding out their secondary school destinations this afternoon. We have everything crossed that they will get the school they want but, if not, we want them to know that regardless they are amazing children who will grow into amazing young people no matter the school they go to. Parents, if you do have concerns over your child's school allocations, I would be happy to meet with you to support/discuss any next steps you may wish to take. Whilst we cannot change, influence or control the Local Authority's decision, we can certainly do all we can to help you navigate what can be a very tricky process.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Miss S Brading

National Online Safety Guide

In an ever-evolving online world, sometimes it is difficult to make sense of the huge selection of apps and games available to young minds. The choices are almost endless and it is not always possible to know which apps are age-appropriate, which games are safe to play and precisely what content your child is being exposed to.

Below are three handy guides for parents and carers that include apps and games that children might enjoy using and learn to play. The guides also feature a number of potential risks such as age-appropriate content and games, age ratings and more. We hope that you will find this information useful.

A reminder that all of our parent/carer community are invited to create an account with National Online Safety, which provides a wide range of resources such as the guides we include in our newsletters, courses and video resources. If you have not already done so, please create your account by visiting the link below.

You can also download the National Online Safety app on any device or smartphone by searching for it in the App Store/Google Play Store.

Contacting the class teachers:

If you have concerns that you would like to raise with the academy, please do so via the office email address which is contactus@langleyparkprimaryacademy.org.uk. Upon receipt, your email will be directed to the relevant member(s) of staff.

We respectfully ask that you address any concerns or issues with your child's class teacher in the first instance. If it remains unresolved then your concern will then be escalated to Mrs Neame, Vice Principal. In the unlikely event that it continues to remain unresolved, it will be escalated to Miss Brading at that point.

We are also aware that some parents continue to email staff directly. In the event that this happens, staff have been asked to forward your email to the aforementioned email address to resume communication via the correct channels.
