It's been a fabulous first week back with the children well rested and enthusiastic for the new term ahead.
We kicked off the week with World Earth Day that we recognised through art. The theme this year was ‘Our Power, Our Planet.’ This year they are inviting everyone to unite behind renewable energy and to triple the global generation of clean electricity for 2030. The children worked hard to learn and understand about the impact of plastic, renewable energy, fast fashion and climate change through this. They then demonstrated their understanding through art as it was also World Art Day on Tuesday 15th April 2025. It is celebrated on this day as it is the birthday of Leonardo da Vinci. The theme for World Art Day 2025 is "A Garden of Expression: Cultivating Community Through Art.” We could see a clear link between the two internationally recognised days so it was a wonderful way to start the term.
In the spirit of World Earth Day and looking after our environment, I was disappointed to be informed that children, who are definitely members of our school, are pulling up the newly planted trees and plants from the soft landscaping around the park area on the estate. Please take some time to talk to your child if they "play out" in the local area with their friends. This could very much be classed as vandalism which is something, I am sure, that we all want to discourage before it escalates to other types of vandalism.
On Thursday, we also held our Roller Disco. It was such a huge success and wonderful to see children having a go at something new. I think we have may have inspired some children to start a new hobby!
Have a wonderful weekend.

Search engines are now a routine part of everyday life, giving instant access to billions of web pages. They do, however, increase the risk of children encountering harmful, untrustworthy, fake or illegal content.
The below guide, also available in podcast format, offers quickfire information about the risks of search engines as well as practical steps that parents and carers can take to safeguard children online.
We respectfully ask that you address any concerns or issues with your child's class teacher in the first instance. If it remains unresolved then your concern will then be escalated to the Key Stage Lead and/or Mrs Neame, Vice Principal. In the unlikely event that it continues to remain unresolved, it will be escalated to Miss Brading at that point.
