It's certainly feeling like Winter with the very cold temperatures. It's been a busy week as always.
On Monday, we said farewell to Neil Willis who was our Chair of Governors for the Maidstone schools. He has worked as part of LAT for many years and has supported the children within LAT and specifically the Maidstone academies tremendously. Representatives from our Year 6 performed a song as part of his leaving event which was extremely moving.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, Year 3 had an exciting visit at Kent Life, where they stepped back in time to explore the Stone Age during a hands-on workshop. The children learned about early human life through interactive activities, including creating their own Stone Age tools and discovering how ancient people survived. They got the chance to try making fire using flint and steel, as well as practicing prehistoric skills like grinding seeds with stones. The workshop brought history to life in a fun and engaging way, allowing the children to connect with the past and understand how early humans lived and worked together. It was an unforgettable experience that made history feel real and relevant!
On Wednesday, the LAT Swimming Gala was hosted at Sir Joseph Williamson's Mathematical School. We had three children represent us (Olivia, Nora and Anna) and they brought the shield home for our school. Anna came first in breaststroke and medley, Nora came second in backstroke and the team came third in the relay, which resulted in them winning the whole event. We are beyond proud of the girls.
Have a lovely weekend and try not to get too cold!

If your child misplaces clothing, water bottles, lunchboxes or any items brought into school, and it is not named, please remember to look in the 'Un-named Lost Property Box' located outside of the academy office. The office does not hold any lost property.
All named lost property should find its way back to your child. The box is emptied every term with unclaimed items recycled.

On the internet or on social media, it is likely that you have come across the occasional pop-up, promising a fantastic deal on a product or service, declaring that you have won a prize of some sort or making any other number of tempting and appealing claims. This marketing tactic has been around for almost 30 years and shows no signs of disappearing any time soon.
Unfortunately, pop-up advertising carries with it various safety risks as we can never be too sure where those links will take us or how legitimate their creators are. Such adverts can be especially risky for children and young people, who may not yet be able to look at such marketing with a critical eye. The below guide, however, offers some advice and education around pop-ups, their associated risks and how to safeguard yourself and your children from this phenomenon.
We respectfully ask that you address any concerns or issues with your child's class teacher in the first instance. If it remains unresolved then your concern will then be escalated to the Key Stage Lead and/or Mrs Neame, Vice Principal. In the unlikely event that it continues to remain unresolved, it will be escalated to Miss Brading at that point.
