It's been an extraordinarily busy week with all of the events and activities taking place that contribute to our pupils' wider personal development.
Year 5, on Monday and Wednesday, visited the Centre for Experimental Military Archaeology at Detling Showground. It linked with this term's unit of inquiry central idea; "Resolutions to conflict between people may lead to a better quality of human life’ and their historical focus of World War 1. It was an incredibly interesting and pertinent experience for the children and helped to contextualise a lot of their learning.
We also attended a Recorder Festival at one of our cluster schools; Leigh Academy Oaks. All of the cluster schools attended to showcase their progress with learning to play the recorder. It was a wonderful opportunity for our Year 3 children to demonstrate all that they have learned during the music lessons and to be an excellent audience to the performers at the other academies. They also had the opportunity to play as one whole recorder orchestra!
Today, we had our annual athlete visit and sponsored circuits in the hall. It was a truly exciting event, particularly meeting the athlete. This year we were visited by Heather Olver, an English badminton player. She won the mixed team and mixed doubles Silver Medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, European women’s doubles Bronze, and reaching the final of the 2013 London Grand Prix Gold and Scottish Open. She also competed at the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics. It was truly inspiring to hear about her journey.
We are also very grateful for the donations made towards Comic Relief. It is for a really good cause so it is important that we get involved with enthusiasm.
And finally, we some baby news for our community. We have not one, not two but three wonderful members of staff that are excitedly waiting for new additions to their families to arrive. Mrs Dunn (Year 1 Teacher and Assistant Principal), Mrs Russell (Year 2 LSA) and Mrs Neame (Vice Principal) are all expecting their little ones to arrive in the summer of this year. We are so excited to welcome the newest members of the Langley family. I am sure that you will join me in congratulating them on their fabulous news.
Have a wonderful weekend.

We respectfully ask that you address any concerns or issues with your child's class teacher in the first instance. If it remains unresolved then your concern will then be escalated to the Key Stage Lead and/or Mrs Neame, Vice Principal. In the unlikely event that it continues to remain unresolved, it will be escalated to Miss Brading at that point.
