What a hot week it has been!
Rehearsals for the Year 6 performance are well underway, and we’re certainly in for a treat this year. The children have been working hard on their lines and songs. It sounds like we’ve got a West End chorus line right here in our school.
Some of our Year 2 children took part in an Infant Agility event at Leigh Academy Oaks. They participated in a variety of activities and showed great skill and sportsmanship. We’re thrilled to share that our team earned a silver medal for teamwork, a fantastic achievement the children should be very proud of.
Today, a group of KS2 children represented our academy at a dance competition at Mascalls Academy. Their talent was truly impressive, but what stood out even more was the kindness and encouragement they showed to one another. They represented our community beautifully, well done to all involved and special thanks to Molly Marsh for her help with the choreography.
Year 3 also enjoyed a trip to Maidstone Museum to deepen their understanding of this term’s learning. I think they were all grateful for the air conditioned venue. They gained a lot from the visit and, once again, represented the academy impeccably.
On a less positive note, we’ve recently seen an increase in incidents where school property has been damaged, either deliberately, through careless use, or silly behaviour. Regrettably, we can no longer absorb the cost of repairs and replacements within our school budget. Going forward, we will be asking parents to contribute to the cost of any damage caused by their child. We’d greatly appreciate it if you could speak with your child about the importance of respecting school property and treating it as they would their own. Thank you for your support and understanding.
And finally, on a really positive note;
We are proud to share that Mrs Barrett has been nominated for a Canterbury Christ Church University Mentor Award. This nomination recognises her exceptional support for student teachers and her dedication to developing the next generation of educators. We congratulate Mrs Barrett on this well-deserved recognition.
Have a wonderful weekend!

YouTube Kids promises a safe, child-centric experience with colourful visuals, age-filtered content and robust parental controls. Designed to appeal to younger viewers, the app has grown rapidly and is used by tens of millions of children worldwide. But is it as safe as it seems?
Despite YouTube Kids' promises around safeguarding, reports have highlighted worrying issues, such as inappropriate content slipping through filters, subtle advertising and the use of manipulative design to keep children engaged. The below guide explores how to navigate these pitfalls and offers practical advice for making sure that children get the most from the platform... without the risks.
We respectfully ask that you address any concerns or issues with your child's class teacher in the first instance. If it remains unresolved then your concern will then be escalated to the Key Stage Lead and/or Mrs Neame, Vice Principal. In the unlikely event that it continues to remain unresolved, it will be escalated to Miss Brading at that point.
