International Day of Yoga is celebrated on 21st June and our Journalism Club has chosen to write about it this week.

The United Nations General Assembly declared 21st June as the 'International Day of Yoga' on 11th December 2014. This is because, the 21st is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and shares a special significance in many parts of the world. It received massive global support with 175 country members supporting and it can be a part of religious practices, particularly within Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism.
Yoga helps to increase your resistance to injuries and helps you heal better.
Yoga works on the core of the body and makes it healthy, flexible and strong.
Yoga increases the level of pain tolerance and also works towards reducing chronic pain.
Mrs Wilson: 'Yoga is good for your body and mind. Yes I would recommend it, I think it is a good way to relax.'
Ethan: 'Yoga is beneficial as stretching makes your body healthier. Yes I would recommend it, because my grandma does it and she has been more healthier from it.'
Sadie: 'It’s exercise and it can calm you down. Yes, I would recommend people try it as yoga is fun!'
