What is Interfaith Week?
Interfaith Week takes place annually in November across the UK, when the spotlight falls on faith communities and interfaith activities, including engagement between those of religious and non-religious beliefs.
Our visitors from Maidstone Interfaith Network were:
Gordon Mackley: Christian (Church of England)
Jackie and David Grant: Bahá’í Faith
Ruth Smith: Christian (Christian Science)
Nicky Younosi: Islam
A massive thank you to our visitors for being part of our Inter-Faith Week!
Whole school assembly supported by Jackie Grant and Gordon Mackley:
'Beliefs and Values May Shape Our Views, Guiding How We See the World and Understanding What it Means to be Human'.
As a whole school, we focused our learning using the above central idea All pupils had 'agency' within their learning whereby they used their voice, made choices and took ownership. Celebrating Interfaith Week encouraged pupils to think with an international mind and recognise the diversity of our academy and local community.
Year 1
Children in Year 1 have been focusing on sacred places. We have been looking at stained glass windows within churches, synagogues and mosques. The children then worked hard to create their own stained glass windows.
Year 2
Year 2 children have been researching the Jewish faith and have focused on exploring the inside of a Synagogue.
Year 3
We have all enjoyed reflecting on our visitor from Monday using thought bubbles to support us.
We then explored the seder plate and the importance of this in the Jewish faith.
Year 4
The mission of children in Year 4 was to create an interfaith community with three core values and a budget which could be spent to promote these core values.
Year 5
Year 6
The Golden Rule !
Year 6 created a podcast.
