Ingredients:
2 x sheets of ready to roll puff pastry
2 tbsp tomato sauce
150g grated mozzarella cheese
1 egg
1/2 tsp dried oregano
1/4 tsp garlic powder
30g grated hard cheese (e.g. parmesan)
A large named tub in which to bring the twists home.
Method:
1) Preheat the oven to 180C (170C fan) and line two baking sheets with baking paper.
2) Roll out one of the puff pastry sheets and brush all over with the tomato sauce, leaving approximately 1/4 inch around the edges. Sprinkle evenly with the grated mozzarella and then place the other puff pastry sheet over the top and firmly press the edges together.
3) Crack the egg into a small bowl or cup and gently beat. Brush the egg over the pastry. Evenly sprinkle the oregano, garlic powder and grated hard cheese over the top of the pastry.
4) Cut the pastry sheet in half lengthways, then cut the pastry in the opposite direction into 2-inch strips. Twist each strip by holding both ends and turning hands in opposite directions. Lay twists on the baking sheets. Place in the oven for 15-20 minutes until puffed and golden. Enjoy with even more tomato sauce!
