This week the pupils have been practicing their journalism skills, reporting on events that have taken place around the school.
On Thursday 21st November, the Year 1 and Year 2 rehearsals for the annual Christmas production were well underway in the hall.
During the morning, KS1 children worked hard practicing for their show entitled 'Fleece Force' which is due to be performed on Thursday 12th December. Directed by Mrs Dunn, Miss K, Mrs Barrett and Miss Russell, the children bring to life the story of two sheep police officers who do not believe the son of God has been born and so they are taken to Bethlehem to see for themselves. The lead characters are Jumper, Wally and Chief Fleecy played by Woody, Hezal and Theo.
To begin with the children found rehearsals tricky, remembering their lines, but are growing in confidence and will no doubt put on an amazing show.
On the 26th of November 2024, Langley Park hosted two Leigh Academies Trust football matches. The UKS2 team and the LKS2 team played both Leigh Academy Oaks teams.
The games at Langley Park were excellent. The UKS2 team won the first game 5-1 and the LKS2 team won the second game 8-0. Both results were impressive. In the first game, the UKS2 team took a strong lead, going 4-0 up by the 20-minute mark. Luke scored two goals in the first half, while George and Joshua each scored one. In the second half, Oaks managed to score one goal. Defenders Jett, Tommy, and Charlie played brilliantly and goalkeeper Freddie made some really good saves. To finish off the game, Lincoln scored a nice goal to secure the win. In the second game, the LKS2 team won 8-0. Wesley scored two lovely goals and Ethan added another two. Theo, Milo, and Jason all contributed with their own goals. The defenders worked hard as always, and Boldizsar made some great saves. Both Langley teams achieved the results they wanted.
The week beginning 18th November was Assessment Week across the school. Pupils completed a number of tests to assess their knowledge and skills including grammar, spelling, arithmetic and maths reasoning.
Nora in Year 5, Zari Class, commented "I felt quite nervous and excited for assessment week but I enjoyed it. At times it was very hard, however some questions were easy! I also liked the fact that it was quiet and I could focus properly on my test! We had one hour to do it (I managed to do it in time) we did four tests and each one was the exact time limit, one was about reading and grammar together, an arithmetic one and maths reasoning.
Aderonke in Year 5, Melrose Class, stated 'Assessment Week was ok for me. Some of it was challenging but the rest were quite easy. I struggled with some of the questions but we haven't learnt everything yet. Tests times varied depending on what subject it was and the classroom was kept very quiet.'
