Welcome to the first Eco Matters page! This monthly page is designed to keep you up-to-date with what our Eco-Council have been working towards within the academy and the surrounding community. There will also be tips and ideas on how we can all be more environmentally friendly at home and within our local area.
Before Christmas, members of the academy's Eco-Council completed a baseline survey to find out what we already do in school to be environmentally friendly. We are very good at healthy living and making healthy choices. However, we really need to improve our bin system! - Amelia and Deepansh
In January, we will be supporting The Great British Birdwatch by looking for birds on our academy site. We will encourage them to come to our Forest School area by putting out bird feeders at different heights. We want to make sure the birds are eating the right foods, so we will be monitoring the academy grounds for food scraps left by us at break times too.
Next Steps: We will be working with our site team to improve the bin system. This will involve a survey of our existing bin system, streamlining what we already have and then adding new bins to help make recycling easier - watch this space!
