It has been a wonderful first week back, with so much going on!
We began with an assembly about firework safety and a charity campaigning to make fireworks quieter. The children engaged in a lively and thoughtful debate, such an inspiring way to start the term. Some pupils were so motivated by the discussion that they created their own petition, asking staff and children to sign it during break times and even approaching prospective parents attending our Reception Open Events. This truly reflects our aim of inspiring children to take respectful and meaningful action, living out our motto “Learning Today for Life Tomorrow.” I believe the petition has now even been sent to our local MP, how amazing!
As mentioned, we also held our Reception Open Events on Wednesday, welcoming nearly 100 visitors across the morning and afternoon. It was a privilege to showcase everything that makes our academy such a special place and why we are proud to belong to this community. Our Year 5 and Year 6 tour guides were outstanding. Visitors were incredibly impressed by their knowledge and confidence, they represented the academy impeccably and definitely encouraged new families to want to join us.
Also on Wednesday, children in Kanzi Class in Year 6 enjoyed a fantastic visit to the Battle of Britain Memorial in Folkestone. It was a brilliant opportunity for them to bring their World War Two learning to life.
Next week, we are hosting our first Parents' Evening of the academic year, in a new format suggested by one of our parents. Whilst we have planned carefully for this, there may still be a few unexpected challenges along the way. We therefore really appreciate your patience and open mindedness, and will welcome your feedback afterwards. A small number of parents have raised concerns about moving quickly between classrooms but, from our experience, it only takes a short time and so you should be able to attend back to back appointments for siblings without any difficulty.
We are very much looking forward to seeing you there.
Have a lovely weekend.

Memes are everywhere and they are quick, witty and wildly shareable. For many young people they are more than jokes, they are a way to connect, express themselves and interpret the world. However, behind the humour, there can be lots of risks. The below guide helps parents and carers understand how memes work and why they matter to young people today.
From misinformation to insensitive jokes and permanent digital footprints, the guide highlights the potential pitfalls of meme culture. With practical tips on digital literacy, empathy and open conversations, it empowers parents and carers to help children navigate online humour in a thoughtful, safe and respectful way.
We respectfully ask that you address any concerns or issues with your child's class teacher in the first instance. If it remains unresolved then your concern will then be escalated to the Key Stage Lead and/or Mrs Neame, Vice Principal. In the unlikely event that it continues to remain unresolved, it will be escalated to Miss Brading at that point.
