There has been a palpable sense of excitement, creativity and, most importantly, an immersion into the world of storytelling at Langley Park this week.
It has been one of those weeks that reminds us why we do what we do. While the academic rigor of our curriculum continues, seeing pupils connect with the magic of literature is truly special.
Our World Book Day celebrations were the centerpiece of the week and I want to extend a massive thank you to every one of you for supporting these events. Whether you helped find that perfect pair of pyjamas or dropped off a well-loved book for our swap, your involvement made all the difference.
Whilst we love to celebrate with big events, the true secret to a child’s success lies in the quiet moments. Research consistently shows that reading for pleasure is the single biggest indicator of a child’s future success. Reading with your child at home, even for just ten minutes a day, does more than just improve literacy. It builds a stronger emotional bond between you and your child, expands their vocabulary and understanding of the world, reduces stress and improves focus.
As we head into the weekend, I encourage you to keep that World Book Day spark alive. Visit a library, revisit a childhood favourite, or simply let your child see you enjoying a book.
Thank you for being such a supportive community. Here’s to many more chapters of success together!

Online slang can be a vibrant way for young poeple to express themselves, however it also changes rapidly and can sometimes carry hidden meanings. The below guide helps to navigate this shifting landscape by breaking down what some of today's most-used slang terms actually mean and why they matter. From 'rizz' to 'sigma', hopefully this will be a handy starting point for anyone wanting to better understand how young people communicate online.
The below guide has been created to offer parents information about online slang and the risks involved, from generational misunderstandings to being used as a veil for harmful content or behaviour. Importantly, it offers advice on encouraging open conversations and critical thinking about language. With slang constantly evolving, it also encourages adults to stay curious, connected and supportive.
We respectfully ask that you address any concerns or issues with your child's class teacher in the first instance. If it remains unresolved then your concern will then be escalated to the Key Stage Lead and/or Mrs Neame, Vice Principal. In the unlikely event that it continues to remain unresolved, it will be escalated to Miss Brading at that point.
