The Eco-Council are pleased to announce that new posters for recycling bins throughout the academy are now complete and will be displayed prominently over the coming weeks. We are hoping to make it clearer and simpler to spot what can go in each of our bins, thus making recycling much easier! Huge thanks go to Mr Vickers, our Caretaker, for helping us to realise this project.
With this in mind, we will be getting back into a regular litter-picking routine around outside areas. Eco-Councillors will frequently be litter-picking during lunchtimes to help keep our play areas clean. This is especially important as we will begin to use more of our outside space as the weather warms up.
Spring offers plenty of family-friendly outdoor activities, from woodland walks and bluebell spotting, to visiting blooming gardens. There are many local farms offering visits for the lambing season and plenty of trails and exciting things to uncover within National Trust and English Heritage sites. Visit familiesonline.co.uk for more information about activities around Kent during March and April.
If you want to stay closer to home, now is the perfect time to start planting seeds for late spring, summer and even autumn blooms. Many local supermarkets, as well as garden nurseries, have the seeds, compost, plants and tools needed to make your garden look beautiful, as well as encouraging bees and butterflies to visit!
Do you have a passion for the outdoors? Are you green-fingered or do have a can-do attitude? Then you could be the person for us!
We are looking for volunteers to help revamp and/or maintain our Forest School. We are happy for anyone to help, offering as much or little time as you have available. Whether it be a one-off visit or a regular stint, we want to hear from you! Please contact Mrs Vidler-Green via the academy office for further information.
