It is unbelievable that we are at the end of the fifth week of term already with only two more to go!
Weekly Events
Yet again, we have been extremely busy this week with a number of exciting opportunities and events taking place.
On Monday, Year 4 visited the Hazlitt Theatre to watch a brand new show called "In.Difference" for young people aged 7-11 years about the topic of Disability and Difference. The children were truly buzzing about the visit and took lots from it.
As part of Year 1's unit of inquiry, on Tuesday, we had a local resident called Paul visit Year 1. Paul is blind and loves to raise awareness of the work of guide dogs. Year 1 were really lucky to meet Pasha, Paul's guide dog, and ask Paul questions about his life and experiences.
On Wednesday, Year 5 held their annual treat stall to raise money for a local homeless charity as part of their unit of inquiry. Unsurprisingly, it was a huge success and the children raised over £300 for such a good cause.
The week ended with a visit from an author called Helen Peters. We won this opportunity through Maidstone LitFest (more information about this is below). She spent time with each key stage reading her books, talking about her journey to becoming an author and answering interesting questions from the children. She then signed copies of her books for those children who opted in.
Toilets
We have been experiencing some challenges with the use of the toilets in the academy leading to Mr Goldsmith spending a lot of time cleaning up toilets that have been blocked and flooded. We have spoken to the children about this already but would also appreciate it if you could take some time with you child to go through the below slides with them. I am sure that it is not always intentional and that with us all promoting the correct use of the toilets we will soon see this be less of an issue.
Thank you for your support with this.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Children are accessing and/or owning smartphones from an increasingly young age. The privacy settings on your child's smartphone give you control over how the information stored on it can be used. You can turn off location services, for example, to keep their whereabouts private or stop apps from accessing functions of the phone like the camera or microphone.
In the guide below you will find information about how to make changes to and tighten up privacy setting on iPhones and Android phones, as well as how to prevent changes to other settings and features on your child's phone.
A reminder that all of our parent/carer community are invited to create an account with National Online Safety, which provides a wide range of resources such as the guides we include in our newsletters, courses and video resources. We respectfully ask that you address any concerns or issues with your child's class teacher in the first instance. If it remains unresolved then your concern will then be escalated to the Key Stage Lead and/or Mrs Neame, Vice Principal. In the unlikely event that it continues to remain unresolved, it will be escalated to Miss Brading at that point.
