Throughout the ages poetry has been seen as a fundamental part of culture and of our expression of human experience. It is an important part of the rich curriculum offered at Landmark. Students´ experience of poetry includes listening to, reading and engaging with a wide range of poetry from different cultures right from the Early Years through to Secondary. This engagement includes listening to and joining in with rhymes and stories, playfully exploring how language can build pictures in the readers´ minds, and choosing words and imagery for effect. We perform, analyse and write poetry. Forms of poetry covered across the school include: limericks, haikus, free verse, kennings, ballads, heroic couplets and sonnets among others.
