Annual Report – 2025

In 2025, the Lander Volunteer Fire Department responded to 230 calls for service, a significant increase from 137 calls in 2024.

Call Breakdown

• 33 Fire Incidents
  Responses included structure fires, mobile homes, vehicle fires, grass and brush fires, and other fire-related emergencies.
  
  

• 23 Rescue and Emergency Service Incidents
  Including EMS assists and motor vehicle accidents.
  
  

• 48 Hazardous Condition Calls
  Incidents involving gas leaks, fuel spills, carbon monoxide alarms, downed or arcing power lines, and faulty or shorting electrical equipment.
  
  

• 65 Service Calls
  Business and school inspections, fire drills, and assistance to law enforcement, EMS, and other agencies.
  
  

• 30 Good Intent Calls
  Dispatched and cancelled en route, no incident found, smoke scares, or odor investigations.
  
  

• 31 False Alarm Calls
  Faulty smoke detectors, alarm system malfunctions, and activated fire alarms.
  
  

Mutual Aid

Of the 230 total calls, 35 were mutual aid responses with Fremont County Fire Protection District. In return, they assisted the Lander Volunteer Fire Department on 13 calls.

Training

Department members participated in extensive training throughout the year, totaling 771 combined training hours, with an average of 23 hours per member. This ongoing commitment ensures continued readiness and professional development.

The department currently has 32 active members, with a maximum capacity of 43.
