Raised from a family of educators Ms. Beattie completed degrees in Psychology and Business before graduating with a BA in Sociology at California State University, Fullerton. She is finishing her Masters in Global History from Arizona State University and her Single Subject teaching credential from California State University, Bakersfield. She participates in the curation of archival and historical evidence regarding COVID-19 and the anti-slavery manuscripts. She has two children, she loves to cook, read and travel to tropical and historical places in her spare time. Her favorite book is The Illiad, favorite movie is The Count of Monte Cristo, and favorite place to visit is Disneyland!

Hello Piute parents and students. My name is Mr. Whelchel and I am one of Piute’s 6th grade teachers. I was born and raised here in the Antelope Valley and I take great pride in educating the youth of the community I love so much. I received my associate’s degree from Antelope Valley College and my bachelor’s degree from California State University Bakersfield. I currently attend Brandman University for my postgraduate education. After becoming a police officer with the Los Angeles Police Department, I decided that I would make the most profound impact back at home, educating the kiddos being raised in the place that I call home.
