“HEALTHY CHILDREN LEARN BETTER”

NEWS FROM THE NURSE

We have come to the time of year to expect cold and flu symptoms. Here are some tips to remember:

WASH, WASH, WASH YOUR HANDS. This is the best defense against illness.

Get plenty of rest- our little ones should get 9-11 hours of sleep each night. Get in a routine with them- give them a bath, brush teeth and read a bed time story- it helps them and you. :)

Dress appropriately for the weather- be sure and write your child’s name on their coat, hat and gloves- anything they have.

Unfortunately, even with the best care, our little ones can still get sick. Our babies play so close together –please remember our policy:

FEVER- If your child runs a fever- they have to stay out for 24 hours without fever before they can come back to school.

VOMITING- If your child is throwing up- they have to stay out for 24 hours without vomiting before they can come back.

DIARRHEA-If your child has diarrhea- they have to stay out for 24 hours without diarrhea before they can come back.

COUGH- If your child is coughing for several days- take them to the Doctor. Don’t send them to school coughing a lot.

NASAL CONGESTION- If your child has green or yellow thick nasal mucus coming from nose for several days- take them to Doctor.

Please do NOT give your child medication to cover up a fever and send them to school.

Please do not send medication to school in the book bag- All medications have to come to me- not the teacher- we need Doctor Orders for all medications- even over the counter medications.

The children enrolled at Southside Early Childhood Center are 4 years old or younger, and the little children play and learn together and if you send your child to school sick- you are spreading germs to make other children sick. If any questions, please call me.
