The Room Inside the Library
Students are scheduled in the Lab in small groups during their study halls. During this time, the Learning Specialist checks Canvas for grades, missing assignments, or future assessments and projects; helping students complete assignments, prepare for assessments, organize digital files and materials, prioritize their time and use Canvas. Basically helping students with whatever skills they need to be successful in Middle School. Students do NOT receive extra work, but rather learn study skills in the context of their assignments.Â
To Attend the Lab
Students with educational testing and/or documentation from a qualified professional, a diagnosed learning disability and/or ADHD may attend the Lab. Students may be eligible for Learning Support on a temporary basis based on: teacher recommendations, parent request or a suspected learning difference. Students would be scheduled in the Lab on a trial basis to allow the Learning Specialist to assess student needs and then recommend next steps.
MS Learning Specialist
I have been teaching since 1992 and have worked exclusively in Learning Support since 1996. I have a Masters Degree in Special Education and am a certified ESL Specialist. I joined the LCDS team in 2013. One thing I love about my role in Learning Support is I have the privilege of working with families throughout their entire time in Middle School. It's very rewarding to watch students grow and mature and be a resource for families.
