Keeping you and your students safe in communication at this time is of great importance. Restrict your communication to these COPPA/FERPA compliant tools and follow all recommendations to keep ourselves and our students safe. All tools are free for education use.
Pro tip: If you are already using a communication tool, stick with what you and your families are familiar with using.

Dial *67 on your phone before dialing a phone number to hide your personal phone number. The call will display as Unknown Caller or No Caller ID for the receiver of the call. Families might not pick up, but leave a message telling them you will call back at a specific time. Or use Google Voice.
Keep a record of all student/parent contact in the Synergy Student Contact Log.
You can also use the Google Voice app or website to avoid disclosing your personal number. You must use a PERSONAL GOOGLE account, not your district google account! Google Voice Support

Synergy Mail allows secure and documented communication, all from within Synergy. Teachers will be able to send messages to parents/guardians, students and classes. Students will be able to send messages to their teachers, counselor and other staff. All communications are logged on the Student Contact Log screen and Parent Contact Log screen automatically!
Documentation will be posted in the Knowledge Base, under a section called “Synergy Mail” with separate instructions for Staff, Teachers and Parents/Guardians/Students.

Google Meet is built right into Google for Education. Fewer features than Zoom. Great for low bandwidth. Video or phone in.
