Watch a recorded production of the show!
Rockin' Wizard Camp was created, written, and performed specifically for the on-screen audience. Our actors were disappointed to not be able to have a live audience this year but were mostly just so thankful to be able to perform again! The McCaskey Campus Children's Theatre Outreach Program met and planned a creative production that would allow the actors to remain 6-feet apart and the magic to come to life! This year's production would NOT have happened without the 10 dedicated production team members.
In order to stay 6-feet apart, our actors are constantly moving and replacing one another on the set. That means that often it looks like they're talking to another person, but often that actor has left the set. Our actors need to stand on their marks in order to be in the camera shot.
Our camera operators are responsible for keeping the actor in their shot and following them with their camera. They also need to make sure that they keep the set in the background and don't show anything that's happening off the camera.
Our 5 cameras feed into our video switcher. Here, the video director can see all of the cameras as well as the video feed and on-screen graphics. The switcher directs the camera operators to get various shots and scans all 8 screens to control what the audience sees in each moment.
Anyali is the video director who oversees the camera operators, calls the shots, scans 8 screens, and controls what the audience sees at home.
Jahmar is a camera operator in the potions classroom. Jahmar follows Lily, Brooke, Angel, and Wiz Crawford in various scenes.
Brendan is a camera operator on the lawn wall and in the spells classroom. Brendan also films the opening rockstar shot on Wiz Rockin'.
Hector is the main camera operator on the lawn wall. He follows various actors and has to always be ready for them to step out of frame.
Zoe is the PTZ camera operator and is responsible for two cameras. Zoe's cameras constantly move back and forth during and in between scenes as they're pre-set for some of the key action, like when Brooke falls off the bench.
Allie is the sound operator who follows all of the cues to deliver the sounds of Wiz Rockin's guitar, the magic wands, and more. Allie also controls the script for the entire production team.
Will is the audio technician who listens to all of the mics, videos, and sound cues and adjusts them all so that the audience hears everything on the same level.
Jay is the stage manager who holds everything together backstage. Jay helped to create all of the props, and during the show, Jay helps Brooke do so many quick costume changes.
Byamunugu is the backstage assistant who helps to make sure that everything and everyone is set. Byamungu also steps in wherever extra help is needed.
