Dear Parents & Families,

No school on Monday, the 26th! Remember, if you signed up to attend our field trip, each attendee MUST fill out the volunteer form by November 9th or you will not be allowed to attend. No late forms will be accepted per front office.

Red Ribbon Week

Tuesday, 10/27 - Wear the color of your favorite fruit or vegetable

Wednesday, 10/28 - Wear blue

Thursday, 10/29 - Wear sports gear or athletic clothing (No masks/helmets/props)

Friday, 10/30 - Dress as your favorite book character (No masks)

Interim Testing

November 4th and 5th will be our first round of 3rd grade testing for Math and ELAR.

Objectives:

📚 This Week in 3rd Grade ✏️

➗ Math – Next week in math, students will continue strengthening their addition and subtraction skills! We will represent and solve one- and two-step word problems using different strategies to help us understand and solve real-world problems. Students will also practice subtracting measurements using three-digit numbers, including numbers with zeros in the tens or ones place. We will learn how to decompose numbers to help us subtract accurately and explain our mathematical thinking. We are excited to continue building confidence, problem-solving skills, and a strong foundation in math!

🔤 Phonics – Phonics words will be sent home at the beginning of every week for students to practice throughout the week. There will be a spelling test over these words every Friday.  

📚 Reading – I can write a constructed response essay using the letter I to organize my writing. 

✍️ Grammar – I can use guiding words to finds words in the dictionary. 

🔬 Science –  I can plan and conduct investigations that demonstrate how the speed of an object is related to it’s mechanical energy.

🌎 Social Studies – I can discuss the importance of cultural celebrations including celebrations held in Texas.
