Counseling Advisory Council
The Hanna Springs Counseling Advisory Council (CAC) committee met three times during the 24-25 school year to discuss campus climate, data from Comprehensive School Counseing Program (CSCP) needs assessments, and student referral trends to enable the CSCP to be fulfilled with purposeful direction. The CAC was crucial in reinforcing the needs for the CSCP and allowing opportuntities for student success.

Example of Using the Implementation Cycle:
In August of 2024, Mrs. Brown called the first meeting for the 24-25 school year for the Hanna Springs Counseling Advisory Committee (CAC). The purpose of this meeting was to review data from the previous school year and the beginning of year needs assessment to create a yearlong plan that followed the Texas Model for a Comprehensive School Counseling Program (CSCP). see below
Example of the completed Implementation Cycle for a Specific Issue:
Organizing
To organize the yearlong program, the CAC began with reviewing data from the previous school year and a comprehensive needs assessment that was given in August of 2024, Beginning Of Year (BOY) Data. When discussing the data, it was determined that the campus had a foundational system in place and continued consistency by all stakeholders would allow for continued growth of all students.
Planning
The CAC reviewed the 23-24 EOY data and the 24-25 BOY data, determining the key points of focus for the CSCP. Including the cornerstone of schoolwide guidance focus for Tier I instruction, small group lessons, supports for staff, and parent education topics.
Designing
Mrs. Brown shared the main components of the Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling to the committee to gauge the complexity of what the CSCP would need to entail to support the campus as a whole with school wide initiatives. The initiatives included the Zones of Regulation, Settle Your Glitter, Peace Path, and Don’t Flip Your Lid. Members of the committee were delighted to see the standard continued and enforced within the CSCP, for the Hanna Family as a whole.
Implementing
Lessons were designed and implemented by Mrs. Brown to follow the immediate needs of the campus with a focus on long term goals. Classroom guidance was taught to all homeroom classes, PK-5th. Opportunities for data collection were given to show the student knowledge base and growth opportunities. The data collected included class surveys, student check-ins, and exit tickets. Teachers were provided with resources that allowed for continuation of the skills and lessons within their daily activities.
Evaluating
The results of the lessons' data were reviewed alongside the needs assessments with the CAC to determine that students were showing progress. Committee conversations determined student needs were showing growth within the guidelines of the CSCP and a school wide commonality was building a strong base.
Annual Program Plan
Mrs. Brown guides all actions of the Hanna Springs Counseling Program from the data received from the needs assessments from administrators, students, staff and parents through the Counseling Advisory Committee. The program encompasses said data within the TEKS set forth by the Texas Education Agency and the guidance from the Texas Model for a Comprehensive School Counseling Program (CSCP).
The daily actions of the CSCP are broken down into the four components of the Texas Model: Individual Planning, Guidance Curriculum, Responsive Services, and System Support, along with any non-counseling duties. Mrs. Brown documents the times utilized within these components to evaluate where the efforts of the program are utilized. The analysis of time, along with other program data, is crucial for pursuing growth within the parameters of the program and needs of the students. This data driven, student-centered program will allow the program to continue to thrive through the support of the stakeholders and the Hanna Family as a whole.
