Mrs. Brown our School Counselor will be your Military Liaison for military-connected students and their families PCSing to the Hanna Springs Elementary district of Lampasas ISD. Mrs. Harrison, our Registrar/PEIMS secretary, works closely with Mrs. Brown when enrolling military-connected students to make sure each is identified, properly coded, and receives support and services as needed. Mrs. Brown is also the point of contact for our campus leadership team (The World Changers), which is made up of a diverse population that includes military-connected students, who help the Hanna Family transition new students to our campus.
When military connected student arrive at Hanna Springs Elementary we take a deep dive into student records to ensure that we are meeting the needs of each individual student where they are. This process includes reviewing Individualized Education Plans given through Special Education (SPED), Section 504 Accommodations (504), Response to Intervention (RTi or MTSS) and any other data that is provided from previous schools.
To ensure our teachers and staff are able to identify the complexity of our military-connected students we serve, our entire staff is provided professional development to solidify the transitions for incoming students and develop an understanding of their specific needs.

The World Changers is our student leadership group that encompasses our school mission to Lead with Love, Learn as a Family and Empower Everyone! This peer-led student program embodies kindness, inclusion and leads with service in everything that they do. These students will welcome your Military student to our Hanna Family and ensure that they find their way within our school family.

Enrollment at Hanna Springs
Registration and Enrollment:
For new students enrolling in our district, please take the time to print and fill out the appropriate forms found on the district website. You can email them to Mrs. Harrison, fax to 512-556-0225 or have them delivered to the campus. Please include the following to complete the registration process. The office will need to make copies of originals to finalize registration:
Original Certified Birth Certificate
Student's current immunization records
A copy of the student's Social Security Card
Acceptable photo ID for parent/guardian*
A withdrawal form, transcript, final report card and/or other educational records from the last school the student attended.
Acceptable Proof of Residency** in the parent/guardian's name that shows the address where the student lives or a notarized affidavit with proof of residency.
Have a 4 year old ready for Pre-K? :
To be eligible for enrollment in a Pre-K class, a child must be four years old on September 1st of the current school year, and the child must meet one of the following requirements:
• Be unable to speak and comprehend the English language
• Be educationally disadvantaged (eligible to participate in the National School Lunch Program)
• Be homeless
• Be the child of an active-duty member of the Armed Forces of the United States, including the State Military Forces or a Reserves, who was injured or killed while service on active duty.
• Have ever been in the conservatorship of the DFPS (foster care)
• Is the child of a person eligible for the Star of Texas Award, such as: o A peace officer o A firefighter o An emergency medical first responder

As the Hanna Springs Military Liaison Mrs. Brown works collaboratively with our Adopt A Unit, Child and Youth Services SLO and our Military Families to ensure that all parties are served appropriately. The connections that are made through these entities provide our Hanna Family students opportunities that will allow them to thrive beyond measure.
The Hanna Springs Online Counseling Center has resources for students and their families to utilize. Mrs. Brown fulfills a comprehensive school counseling program for all students at Hanna Springs that includes individual counseling, small groups and classroom guidance. Lampasas ISD also has an amazing partnership with TCHATT that enables us to provide students and their families without further resources if needed.
What is TCHATT?
Texas Child Health Access Through Telemedicine, or TCHATT, is a telehealth program that offers access to mental health services across the state of Texas.
TCHATT partners with participating school districts to increase access to mental health supports and services to school staff and their students.
These services are at no cost to independent school districts, students and their families.

Adopt A Unit Partnership with our Hanna Family (23-24):
July 2023: Mrs. Brown attended the Partners in Education forum with our Adopt a Unit on Ft. Cavazos.
July 2023: Unit trained our student leadership group, World Changers, on proper flag etiquette, teamwork and respect of our nations flag.
Aug. 2023: Unit helped welcome students for the First Day of the 2023-2024 school year.
Oct. 2023: Unit was a part of our campus Safety Day, teaching students about working with police, safety measures and overall good citizenship.
Nov. 2023: Unit attended our Veterans Day Program, visiting with our Military Families and helping serve them.
Nov. 2023: Unit met with Second grade classes and discussed their job role as Military Police.

Child & Youth Services School Liaison Officers
School Support Services provides Army school-aged youth with educational opportunities, resources and information necessary to achieve academic success. A branch of Child & Youth Services (CYS), School Support Services features School Liaison Officers (SLOs), who help schools, installations and families work together for student achievement.
SLOs are your best support in the area of education, schools and military transitions. SLOs are knowledgeable in current education news and policies. They act as the conduit between the school community – including local public school districts, private schools and homeschool families – and the installation.
How do they do it? By
Helping schools understand the challenges military families face
Informing parents about local school policies
Giving families information about local schools, graduation requirements, after-school programs, youth sponsorship and homeschooling
Connecting units and schools through partnership initiatives
Conducting workshops to help parents navigate educational transition and advocate for their children
Providing an array of resources that benefit military youth and improve school experiences

Military Kids Connect is for military children and provides access to age-appropriate resources to support children dealing with the unique psychological challenges of military life.

Our Military Kids recognizes the sacrifice of children of deployed National Guard, deployed Reserve, or post 9/11 combat-injured service members by offering extracurricular activity grants that build the child's self-confidence, enhance family wellness, and strengthen a shared sense of community.

The solution military-connected families need manage academic life. A free, easy-to-use solution will save families hours of time and can help eliminate the academic challenges that many military-connected families face.
Military families have a lot to deal with - emotionally, logistically, and financially. What benefits are out there for military families to make life a bit easier for them? Where can they find discounts and deals? We've created this helpful financial guide aimed specifically to help military family members learn about the different resources, federal programs, retail discounts, and deals for dependents of U.S. soldiers.
The Texas Education Agency recognizes the challenges faced by students and families as they transition to a new home and school district. TEA has developed a section of their website to provide information about Texas schools, graduation requirements and links to other sites of interest.
A website committed to raising awareness about cerebral palsy. We also aim to provide important information and support for families affected by cerebral palsy.
Professional Development:
During the LISD and HSE summer professional development for the 23-24 school year, all teachers and staff at Hanna Springs Elementary were provided with continuing education to ensure our teachers and staff are able to identify the complexities that could arise with the military-connected students we serve. The entire staff was provided training to solidify the transitions for incoming students and develop an understanding of their specific needs. Our school registrar/PEIMS secretary is specifically trained to examine student records to ensure that military-connected students are coded accurately and in a timely manner and our school counselor combs through student records to ensure that that the Hanna Springs Teachers and Staff have a clear picture of what the military-connected student comes to us with.
