The ACT Assessment is a standardized, multiple-choice, college admission exam. It is accepted for admission by virtually all of the colleges and universities in the United States. ACT scores are also frequently used for course placement and scholarship eligibility. The test is administered seven times per year. The ACT takes approximately two and a half hours to complete. There are 3 sections you are tested on: English, Mathematics, and Reading. There are optional Science and Writing tests that can be added on, but are not required.
Students have traditionally taken the ACT in the spring of their junior year and, if necessary, again in the fall of their senior year. However, more and more students are choosing to take their first ACT earlier, such as during the fall of their junior year. This gives them more flexibility to retake the ACT one or more times.
There are several activities that are available to students at the high school or on ACT's Website.
See the LHS Counseling Center - We have several resources to help prepare you to take the ACT.
