Major Responsibilities:

Assist with the development of the National Standards Curriculum (NSC) (Language Arts - Grade 6), monitor the implementation of the NSC at the primary and secondary levels, and conduct and monitor training of teachers in the use of the NSC.

Major Accomplishments:

  • Re-accreditation of all programmes that had expired accreditation status or had lost accreditation prior to 2013 (total of six programmes)
  • UCJ Approval and accreditation of the Bachelors of Education in Applied Technology
  • Revision/development of numerous policies and procedures attendant to teaching and learning
  • Mapping and strengthening of critical internal processes
  • Development of four programmes based on labour market intelligence data (inclusive of a Post-graduate Diploma in Learning Technologies)
  • Average of 95% attainment on assigned departmental targets for the period April 2013-March 2017

Major Responsibilities:

  • Provide vision and direction to the two schools (School of Education and Professional Studies and School of Applied Technology)
  • Develop and monitor strategies for achieving excellence in teaching and learning
  • Design and maintain professional development programmes for faculty and other staff to support and improve excellence in the teaching and learning process
  • Monitor the use of technology and flexible learning modalities in the teaching and learning process
  • Provide guidance to the Librarian and Practicum Coordinator to ensure coordination of these key learning support mechanisms with general teaching and learning processes
  • Oversee the development of new academic programmes
  • Oversee the monitoring of existing academic programmes
  • Monitor programme delivery and quality assurance at all three locations (Kingston, Mandeville and Montego Bay)
  • Monitor new and existing partnerships to ensure greater support for the teaching and learning process
  • Monitor the development and management of the academic budget
  • Manage institutional risks and respond appropriately to audit findings
  • Serve as a member of the Procurement Committee – HEART Trust/NTA
  • Serve as a member of the Programme Development Committee – HEART Trust/NTA.
