Individual

Counseling

I work with students one on one to address various concerns such as anxiety, behavior management, emotion regulation, grief, family changes, and more. My individual counseling philosophy is to provide an environment that allows the student to become their true selves. I actively listen and provide support for students in an empathetic way. My individual sessions are solution focused. A goal will be set and I will work along side your student for 6 sessions to help them reach that goal.

Students may be referred for individual counseling by any member of school staff, a parent/guardian or by themselves. Parent/guardian will be contacted when a referral is submitted on the school end.

After working with a student I may come to the conclusion that the student may benefit from professional mental health counseling. I will contact families about this option and provide a list of outside mental health counseling referrals.

Small Group Counseling

I provide small group opportunities for students that may be having a similar experience. In the past, this has been done by grade level. However, in order to provide the safest environment for students and myself, small groups will be conducted by classroom so that students remain with their same cohort and will not be exposed to students from another class. A needs assessment will be sent out to teachers for group recommendations and referrals. Past groups have included Surfing to Self Control, Sea of Friends, Worry Warriors, Organization, Wiggly Worms, Bounce Back (building resiliency), and Healing Hearts (grief).

These opportunities are by permission only so I will always send home a form about the group that will require a signature allowing the student to participate.

Whole Group Counseling

Classrooms lesson give me the opportunity to go into the classroom and do a lesson with the entire class. It's important to me to be a face that students see on a regular basis so that if a concern arises throughout the year they feel comfortable working with me.

I visit all classrooms once a month and design lessons based on the need of the class or grade at that time. Our school also followed the Core Essential Values curriculum which is woven into all of my lessons. Please visit the Core Essential Values tab in the Counseling Services drop down menu to learn more!
