MINI-GRANT APPLICATION

Application Deadline: Revolving/Open ended

· Allow youth to design and implement projects that connect youth to the community

· Encourage youth-initiated approaches to create a community norm of “no use” for our youth

· Create opportunities for youth to develop leadership skills and to share these skills with other area youth

Lake Placid Wilmington Connecting Youth and Communities Coalition, Inc. Vision and Mission

The Lake Placid Wilmington Connecting Youth and Communities Coalition is an organization comprised of volunteer members of the community representing twelve different sectors whose vision is connecting youth and community through advocacy, education and engagement to foster youth to be educationally and vocationally productive, civically and socially connected and physically and mentally healthy.

The mission of the CYC is to promote mental, physical and spiritual health by empowering and educating our youth to become leaders and engaged citizens.

The strategies of the Coalition include:

· Comprehensive planning and coordination of education, prevention, and early intervention program.

· Integrate youth where appropriate to create engagement opportunities.

· Provide support and leadership opportunities for the youth of the community.

Mini-Grant Awards

Our objective is to use the funding we receive to make a series of grants, which will typically range from $150 - $500 to youth-driven community projects. By creating these mini-grants we hope to involve the youth in the communities of Lake Placid and Wilmington to further the vision and mission of the CYC. Through you and others like you we hope to make this dream a reality and are eager to listen to your proposals.

Grant Duration

Dates: Beginning January 2014 – till funds are exhausted

Getting Started

Complete the application. Be aware that this is a “competitive process”. All applications will be reviewed by the grant committee.

You must also meet the basic requirements, listed below, for your project and those participating in it. Once completed the applications can be brought to Tina Clark’s office, Room 305 or brought to a Lake Placid Central School office for forwarding to her.

Requirements

· Grants will be given to youth-initiated projects, where youth must come up with the idea for the project, and complete the application with an adult acting in a strictly advisory role. For Elementary and Middle School levels-additional adult involvement may be required. Grants requested must be between $150 - $500, and will be utilized for the specified project. This is a reimbursement grant and funds awarded will be reimbursed based on receipts provided.

· Must submit a written summary at the end of the project and make a personal presentation to the Lake Placid Wilmington CYC Board and Grant Committee.

· All projects & paperwork must be completed by date indicated in your proposal

· Established clubs, groups of students and individual students are eligible to apply

· Decisions will be announced and selected projects can begin following our Board Meeting.

· Funds received CANNOT be used on food items.

· Complete and return the attached grant application form and budget as soon as you have it ready as we anticipate funds will run out.

· Submit your receipts for reimbursement unless other arrangements are made.
