WINGS Program

Mrs. Pfeifer (Bolton)

The Lakeland Union High School "WINGS" Program

"Working Independently and Gaining Self-Determination"

Students with disabilities who remain in school until the age of 21 may need more options to interact with same-age peers without disabilities. Therefore, WINGS increases further transition skills and employment options within the community. Students with disabilities have a wide range and level of abilities. Our obligation is to determine how to provide the maximum benefit from the community all the way to employment. WINGS is designed to support students with disabilities who have not met their IEP goals or requirements for graduation and who may need to continue to work on their transition goals which may include working, living independently and recreation/leisure skills.

The overall goal of these services is to provide students with disabilities, ages 18-21, a transition-focused program within a community environment based on each student’s Individualized Educational Program (IEP).
