AP German IV
What you will learn in this course: This course is conducted entirely in the target language. The students are expected to communicate as well in German to one another. The material covered included heavy grammar review, holidays and festivals, occupations, health, environment, and politics/current events. E-mail communication is conducted with the instructor to enhance daily usage of German, and novels are read to introduce more new vocabulary and grammar. Students combine what they have learned in German 1-3 in this class on a more communicative level, and do projects with more intensity. How you will learn in this course: Students continually improve their skills of reading, writing, speaking, and listening in the target language with use of the textbook, supportive material including novels and short stories, videos, songs and poetry. The internet is used for current events with a special emphasis placed on the use of technology with online activities and assignments, research, videos, emailing with fellow students and the instructor, a class Wiki (website/blog) and Podcasts. Why this course is important: This class enhances the reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills that students have learned for four years. Students at this level will take the college placement test for German, or the AP test. They can earn retro-active credits for college by placing high on the test. This class is the foundation for further courses at the college level.
