Becoming a substitute

If you are interested in transitioning to a Lakeland School System substitute position at the time of your retirement, be sure to indicate on your Intent to Retire form that you wish to be moved to substitute status. This prevents you from having to complete an employment application, be fingerprinted, or be subjected to a physical if there is a break in employment.

If you've had a break in employment but wish to rejoin the LSS staff as a substitute, please complete a substitute employment application on the LSS website.

We have several substitute recruitment periods throughout the year. If you don't see a position posted, be sure to check back frequently! In order to remain on the sub list, you must sub at least 10 days per semester.

If you decide to work as a substitute teacher (or in any capacity for a school district), you will be required to complete a TCRS Temporary Employment Report Form annually.
