School Programs

After School Academy

The After School Academy (ASA) is a Spring time after school program we offer at Twin Lakes Elementary. ASA consists of a variety of after school enrichment classes, consisting of learning that does not normally happen during the school day.

If you have ideas for future class offerings, or if you'd like to lead a class, please contact Mrs. Litzko.

5th Grade Ambassadors (leadership team)

My 6th grade leadership team is called "Ambassadors" (formerly known as Emissaries), and one of their main tasks is to complete assigned jobs throughout the school. In order to try out to be an Ambassador, students need to fill out a resume, get a letter of recommendation, and go through an interview. All Ambassadors serve for a semester.

Ambassadors meet with me once a week during their lunch time. We work on leadership, collaboration, and social-emotional skills that they will use during their Ambassador jobs. Below is the Ambassador information letter and student resume.

Peer Mentors

5th grade Peer Mentors was created in order to build more contentedness within our school community, and to provide more mentoring opportunities between grades. Any 5th grader can help with Peer Mentors, and the helpers switch throughout the year.

Currently, as the end of the 2018/2019 school year ends, our 5th grade Peer Mentors are completing two, main jobs- morning greeters and recess buddies.

  • Morning Greeters- You may have seen our morning greeters standing out in front of the building each day before school starts. They greet each person that walks through the front doors or onto the primary playground. The 5th graders have a sign of greeting options- high five, fist bump, wave, hug, say hello, or handshake. If students and adults want to greet back, they pick a greeting in order to say good morning to the 5th grader. This activity helps to give a positive start, and a bright face, to the beginning of each day.

  • Recess Buddies- Various 5th graders have been paired up with K-2 students during recess time. The 5th graders play with the K-2 students, work on problem solving and communication skills, and act as a positive role model during the mid-morning recess time.
