Counseling Program

Counseling Program

I am fortunate enough to work with all students at Twin Lakes Elementary, and I get to work with them through a variety of ways. Some of these major ways include:

  • Teaching classroom counseling lessons in every class

  • Running small group counseling sessions

  • Running student lunch bunches

  • Conducting individual counseling sessions

  • Conducting student check-ins

My job is to support students, families, and staff. I am here to support students in all aspects of their lives including social/emotional development, academics, and career awareness.

Please reach out and let me know if I can support you or your child in any way. You can reach me at 208-687-5870 or justine.litzko@lakeland272.org

Counseling Program Mission

To effectively deliver a comprehensive school counseling program, based on the American School Counseling Association's National Model, that fosters development in academic, social/emotional, and college and career readiness areas. Elementary counseling programs will provide all students the opportunity to learn and gain skills in order to develop their unique potential to become successful in all aspects of life.

Counseling Program Vision

All students will be inspired to become life-long learners who will be prepared to meet the challenges of the ever changing world.

Classroom Counseling Lessons

I teach counseling lessons in the classrooms every week. The Lakeland School District utilizes the board approved Second Step curriculums, which I use during these lessons. We work on a variety of skills including learning skills, problem solving, feelings, empathy, emotional regulation, kindness, and school expectations. Below are links to the curriculums Lakeland School District utilizes.

Small Group Counseling

I conduct small group counseling sessions throughout the week during lunch time. Below is my small group counseling consent form, which also includes more information about my small group sessions. If you are interested in signing your child up for a group, please fill out the consent form and return it to the front office.

Individual Counseling

I meet with students on an individual basis each and every day. Referrals come from teachers, families, and students themselves. If a student wants to meet with me, all teachers have referral slips in their classroom. If possible, I try to pull students for individual counseling sessions during non-academic times. I meet with students for a multitude of reasons- conflict resolution, emotional regulation, grief and loss, divorce, behavior, academics, and more.
