Mrs. Lucas' Class - Expectations

- Attendance is necessary to keep up with the class. If a student misses class time, they are missing the instruction time needed to learn a skill. However, if a student must miss class, they are required to make up missed work in a timely manner (1 day for each excused day missed, after which deductions will be made for late work).

(Example: Absent Tuesday and in school Wednesday → makeup work on Wednesday and turn in missed work on Thursday)

Students are expected to be in their seats when the bell rings/at the start of class
Students are required to participate in class and be respectful to their peers, themselves, and their teacher. Consequences for misconduct may include verbal warning, detention, written assignments, parent notification, or an office referral
Plagiarism and cheating have no place in a community of learners. Each student is required to put forth their personal best. Everyone has something important and valuable to add to our learning experience. If a student is suspected of plagiarism or cheating, the parents and the principal will be notified and consequences will be determined.
Check the Student & Parent Portal gradebook regularly to see missing assignments and grades.

Late Work: Late work will be accepted with a penalty until the end of each week. After this, assignments will no longer be accepted.

Grade Policy: All MP grades are final. Students should be tracking their progress throughout the marking period as well as keeping in touch with me if they are concerned. Any student who scores below a 70 on an assessment will always have the option to edit and revise for a higher grade before the end of the MP. Upon revision, the highest grade that can be earned is an 80.

Electronics policy: Cellphones, smartwatches and Airpods are not allowed out in class. Students must keep their electronics in their bookbags at all times. If the device is seen, taken out, used, or given to another student, the device will be taken away, student(s) will be written up, and administration and guardians will be notified.

Accommodations: We all learn differently and approach our learning differently. Please feel free to speak with me after class or during office hours to discuss what accommodations work best for you.

Basic Needs: Any student who faces challenges securing food or other basic needs is urged to speak with me, Mrs. Rucci or another adult with whom you feel safe so that we may assist in finding you resources to be successful.

Cell Phone Policy: This will be sent home the first week of school and is due back Friday, September 19th. Any
