Classroom Rules:
Below is a copy of our Whole Brain Teaching class rules. We will go over them each morning during the school week. Please review them with your child also.
Follow directions quickly.
Raise your hand for permission to speak.
Be kind.
Make smart choices.
Keep your dear teacher happy.
Individualized Incentives:
I believe that all of my students can behave appropriately when at school. We will treat our classroom as our home away from home and the people in our classroom as such.
Throughout the day, your child has a chance to earn points by making smart choices. When rules are followed and smart choices are being made, he/she will move their clip up a chart. At the end of the day, your child will record his or her points in their planner. You must sign off that you saw those points each night in order for your child to earn points the next day. Those points equal “Mallard Money” for our class store. Your child can cash in their bucks to purchase something from the store weekly. Your child can score up to 3 points a day.
When one of the rules is broken by making a poor choice, your child can also clip down our chart. We will discuss the rule and decide what could have been a better choice. I try to use natural consequences when possible, but will contact home when necessary. Just like the positive points earned, you will see negative points marked in the planner as well.
I also use a Super Improver Board from Whole Brain Teaching. Each child will have a punch card labeled Level 1- Beginner. They will be responsible to keep their Leveled card safe. When positive choices are made, your child will receive a hole punch on their card. 10 punches=a new level. Rewards are given for level advancement. The end goal is to achieve Genius status and sit at the Teacher’s Desk!
Class Incentives:
We also have chances to earn class parties with “Stars in a Jar” whenever a compliment is earned.
