Paterson Makerspace

In November, 2017, the Computer Enhancement (Technology) Fee awarded the Chancellor Paterson Library $25,000 for the creation of a new makerspace on the main floor of the Paterson Library.

The funds were used to purchase:

  • two Ultimaker 3D printers
  • Einscan-SP 3D scanner
  • Oculus Rift virtual reality display system
  • two high-end computers
  • DSLR camera and a video camera (for lending)
  • two green screens (for lending).

The makerspace was designed as an experiential lab, intended to introduce students, faculty and staff from various disciplines to the technology.

The 3D printer was showcased at the Grand Opening of the Teaching Commons in April and was well received by those in attendance.

To date, the makerspace has been a point of interest to students and faculty in a range of disciplines including anthropology, biology, nursing, kinesiology, visual arts, and business.
