The Promotional Enterprise Program which includes INCubatoredu is taught by Business Teacher - Nikki Sauerbrey (sauerbreyn@lake.k12.fl.us).

INCubatoredu - A business program at Tavares High School (under the Promotional Enterprise Program). This program will allow students the opportunity to develop services and products using real-world concepts that could potentially bring in thousands of dollars in funding.

What is INCubatoredu? - it is a national program that provides a specialized curriculum to hundreds of member schools in over a dozen states. INCubatoredu utilizes online instruction materials, provides consultation on how the classroom is designed, uses a framework utilizing coaches and mentors, and provides professional development and resources for the year-long course.

INCubatoredu is the high school students “shark tank” dream. This new curriculum, developed by successful business leaders, gives our students the tools, knowledge and understanding to start their own businesses and test their ideas in the real world.

In addition to the INCubatoredu program, the Promotional Enterprise Program @ THS provides management opportunities, traditional business courses, and hands on experiences for our students. The programs also has students participating in FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America).

Promotional Enterprise Program -

FLDOE Purpose: This program offers a sequence of courses that provides coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further education and careers such as an Information Technology Assistant, Custom Promotional Design Manager, First Line Supervisor, Small Business Manager, and General Operations Manager/Owner in the Business Management and Administration career cluster; provides technical skill proficiency, and includes competency-based applied learning that contributes to the academic knowledge, higher-order reasoning and problem-solving skills, work attitudes, general employability skills, technical skills, and occupation-specific skills, and knowledge of all aspects of the Business Management and Administration career cluster.

The content includes but is not limited to enhanced practical experiences in management of digital layout and design, production of embroidered apparel, direct to garment print, sublimation, specialty items and signs as it relates to the running and management of a digital imprinted merchandise business. Development of specialized skills in production planning, design, layout, and evaluation of business promotional campaigns in the digital imprinted merchandise industry are critical components within the program.

The Promotional Enterprise Program @ THS consists of 4 Levels:

  • Digital Information Technology - this course provides a basic overview of current business and information systems and trends, and to introduce students to fundamental skills required for today's business and academic environments. Digital Information Technology includes the exploration and use of: databases, the Internet, spreadsheets, presentation applications, management of personal information, email, word processing and document manipulation, HTML, web page design, and the integration of these programs using software that meets industry standards. Digital Information Technology offers a certification from Certification Partners - CIW Internet Business Associate.

  • Custom Promotional Layout Design - this course is designed to develop basic entry-level skills required for careers in the custom imprinted merchandise industry. Students will learn: computer skills, layout, design, measurement activities, decision making, digital imaging, sublimation activities, digital embroidery activities, digital precision cutting activities, direct to garment printing activities, and sign making activities. After the successful completion of Custom Promotional Layout and Design students will be able to perform basic design and layout in predictable situations. This course offers certifications in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign.

  • Promotional Design Management - This course is designed to develop organizational skills needed for the imprinted merchandise industry. The content includes entrepreneur concepts (INCubatoredu), basic supervision and management activities, portfolio development activities, and workforce development skills evaluation activities. After successful completion of Promotional Design Management, the student will be able to manage small production runs of imprinted merchandise in unpredictable situations.

  • Custom Promotional Sales and Distribution Management - This course is designed to develop mid-level management skills required in the imprinted merchandise industry. The content includes real world production schedules for single lines of merchandise, management of production equipment, customer relations, and sales of imprinted merchandise and delivery of the product. This course is designed to be done in a real production environment through placement in a school-based imprinted merchandise enterprise or industry internship placement. After successful completion of Custom Promotional Sales and Distribution the student will be able to manage a production line from customer product design through delivery of final product.
