Positive Culture and Environment
At Rimes Early Learning Center, building and sustaining a positive culture and environment is a top priority to build on the success of our students both academically, socially and emotionally.
Rimes Early Learning Center continuously strives to encourage and strengthen a positive school culture and environment by ensuring all stakeholders are involved. This is achieved through the implementation of its Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program.
Rimes Early Learning Center has adopted the PBIS model for teaching and addressing specific and expected behaviors of our students, as well as to promote a positive school wide culture.
As part of the PBIS framework, we have established clear rules for the behaviors we expect in all areas of our school. These expectations are explained in our Expectation Matrix. We will teach these expectations to the students during our Morning Meetings and throughout the school day. The expectations for all student behaviors will be clear throughout our classrooms, playground, cafeteria, hallways, and bathrooms. By teaching the expected behaviors in a positive way, we are providing a common language for everyone in our building, including students, teachers, and staff. We believe that by helping students practice good behavior, we will build a school community where all students can learn.
What is PBIS?
PBIS is a proactive, team-based framework for creating and sustaining a safe and effective school. School wide PBIS increases the capacity to educate all of our students by utilizing research-based school wide, classroom, and individualized interventions. Emphasis is placed on prevention of situationally inappropriate behavior, development of pro-social skills, and the use of data-based problem solving for addressing existing behavior concerns.
