1. Sign up for LVIS's parent portal in order to check grades regularly. It is called Ascender. In order to foster independence, show your child how to check their grades and assignments online as well. Set desired goals together with your child. Log in to Ascender regularly in order to check progress and missing assignments.
2. Go over any graded assignments. Most assignments will be sent home Wednesdays. Tests will be returned to students as soon as possible after the test is given.
3. Help your child develop and maintain an organizational system for assignments and due dates. Students should use their folders to keep reference sheets for study and throw away unneeded old papers.
4. Students should keep their backpacks stocked with needed school supplies.
5. Encourage memorization of multiplication facts and vocabulary words as required for each subjects.
6. Students should rely on the teacher for instruction. Please don’t feel that caretakers have to also be the teacher. If you feel like your child needs help with technology or the content, encourage them to reach out to me. I’m happy to help!
