There are two ways that Holds can be found
On the blue bar, on the right side, you will see a flag 🏴 with an orange exclamation point. This is the quickest way to get to holds.
On the blue bar, select Dashboard. Once on the Dashboard page and scroll to the bottom of the page and you will find Library Holds and then click on the link titled Click here to view requests.
This shows you how many holds are on the books.
Once you are in viewing the holds list, which can be very long, so let's just pay attention to the top portion.
What you will see :
Call Number - where on the shelf book is located.
Title - Need to have a visual of the book cover? Click on the Details button and it will give you a cover peek.
Copy Number - This is the barcode number. When we have multiple copies of a book, please look at this number; if it doesn't match we'll make a note.
Patron's Name - Need to get grade and classroom teacher of student click on the eye icon (right of the name)
Pull Copy Button : this button is the finish button you push after the books have been pulled off the shelf, a post it for the student info on the cover --> push the Pull Copy button to move book off this list and onto the next list - Local Materials Ready for Patron.
This is located directly under the Local Materials to be Pulled.
These are the books that "should be" on the tables with post it labels.
I say "should be" because students have the option to "unhold" their holds so if they change their minds mid-week - the books may have already been pulled and are now reassigned to another student.
*Wednesdays* we is the day we double check all the holds and verify what is ready to check out or not.
There are times when books are put on hold by students and we can't find them on the shelves.
This could be because:
The book is lost and not in the library.
The book may have been put on hold BUT it is still being processed and isn't ready to check out but shows up in the catalog.
The book may have been put on hold BUT is in the back being mended/repaired.
Hold slips are printed on Wednesdays on bright yellow-lime paper.
Please write the last name of student and grade level number on the top of the paper. We slip these into the books to hopefully make it easier for adult eyes to see their student's books during distribution.
*Please note : there is a chance that between Wednesday and Thursday that students change their minds and the book that is printed on the slip is no longer being asked for by a student. As a way to save paper, I'm not reprinting these slips. You can cross out the book listed and write in the new book that is being held, if it is available for check out.*
This is the longest list of holds, please don't let it scare you!
All of these books are on a "waitlist" for check out. Student's are in a que which will let them know where in the waitlist line they are.
These books do not need to be pulled as they aren't available just yet. ;)
