I am a sustainability practitioner and engineering educator. My goals are to create a classroom setting that provides an opportunity to learn and apply knowledge to design sustainable, resilient, and smart infrastructure to cater to the needs of rapidly increasing urban populations. I love cooking, camping, hiking, and listening to music.
Experiential learning through field trips and reflections.
Courses I teach:
ES 101 - Introduction to Engineering
ES 226 - Statics
ES 230 - Strength of Materials
CE 203 - Envisioning a Sustainable World
CE 251 - Fluid Mechanics
CE 321 - Introduction to Environmental Engineering with Laboratory
CE 322 - Environmental Site Assessment
CE 351 - Water Resources Engineering with Laboratory
CE 352 - Hydrology
Community-Engaged Pedagogy
Students engaged in developing and implementing a lesson plan and demonstration to teach local elementary school students and then reflect on their learning through this community-based project.
Creative Assignments
Communicating science to the non-scientific community through Halloween costume competition - Tell a story using your costume to describe current or past Environmental issues or events.
Course-Based Collaborative Research Projects
Students engaged infiltration test in a microforest. They evaluate literature, find gaps, generate hypothesis and research questions, design their experiement, collect data, analyze and interprete it and finally present the results.
Active Learning
Paper Tower Challenge with varying constraints to illustrate the importance of selecting sustainable materials and advocating for sustainable development.
Research Interests - Integrating teaching and research
Design integrated water infrastructure;
Monitor and model urban water infrastructure to evaluate its resilience to urbanization and climate change;
Develop low-cost sensors for water monitoring;
Evaluate the effect of teaching tools and pedagogical techniques on student learning - knowledge, research efficacy, behavior, and attitude.
