What is an audition?
A show choir audition is when students demonstrate their skills as singers and dancers to help the directors determine which group would be the best fit for them. We want our students to have fun and feel confident about the audition process so they can do their best and we can find the right place for each individual.
Eligibility to participate
Eligibility to participate
Any student in grade 6-8 that attends Logan Middle/SOTA II, Longfellow Middle, or Polytechnic AND is enrolled in choir at their school (with the exception of Polytechnic students as choir is not offered at this building) is eligible to participate in show choir!
Who needs to audition?
Who needs to audition?
Not all students need to audition to participate in show choir.
6th grade students: DO NOT need to audition. All 6th grade students will be in the Omega group to learn the basics of show choir.
7th & 8th grade students: All 7th and 8th grade students should audition for a place in either the Alpha or Omega group.
Students will not be excluded from participating in show choir based on their audition- ALL STUDENTS HAVE A PLACE IN SHOW CHOIR!
Students should come to rehearsal and auditions wearing clothes that they can dance in comfortably and tennis shoes (no sandals or crocs please). Please bring a water bottle and be ready to do your best!

4:00-5:30 Rehearsal
(All students)
All 6th-8th grade students that would like to participate in show choir should attend this rehearsal. Students will start to learn the Alpha & Omega combined song which will serve as the music and dance selection for the auditions that will take place the following week.
5:30-6:00 Parent Meeting
(All students and parents)
All students and families should plan to attend an informational meeting in the auditorium following rehearsal. At this meeting we will go through the important information that families will need for the show choir season. If you cannot attend the meeting the information will also be posted on the website and emailed after the meeting.

4:00-5:30 Rehearsal
(All students)
All 6th-8th grade students that would like to participate in show choir should attend this rehearsal. Students will review and continue learning the Alpha & Omega combined song. 6th grade students will be dismissed at the end of this rehearsal and 7th and 8th grade students will stay for auditions.
5:30-6:00 Auditions
(7th & 8th Grade Only)
7th and 8th grade students will audition using the song they learned during rehearsal. The directors will be looking for a group of students that can work at a fast pace with good attitudes and give their best efforts.
Audition results will be emailed out no later than Friday, September 5 so students know which group they are in for the season. Regular rehearsals will start for both Alpha and Omega the following week, including our first choreography camp on Saturday, September 13!
