The Great Emu War

The background info

After World War 1,the government gave ex-Australian soldiers from World war 1 and British Vets land in Western Australia.When the great depression farmers had to increase wheat crops.In October 1932,it was time to harvest the crops but, 20,000 Emu's ate all the crops.

The first attempt

The military was planned to get involved in October 1932 .Due to much rain the it was delayed to November 2nd that year.On that day,troops were deployed with orders to help farmers, and collect 100 emu skins for hats?On November 2nd soldiers traveled to Campion a place in west Australia where they saw about 50 emus.The birds were out of range but weirdly the people local were helping the soldiers?After the attack,they only got about only 12 emus.On November 4th, the next attack they spotted 1,000 emus heading towards them!When they fired they only got another 12 emu's and there guns jammed and the rest ran away to fight another day.The next couple days Meredith headed more south and only got a few.The 4th day of the mission they spotted and could not shoot.Around November 8th they have already used 2,500 rounds of ammo.

Second attempt

The emu attacks on crops continued.Farmers asked for a second attempt.After all is settled November 13th 1932 the first 2 days they had success likely killing 40 emu's.The 3rd day November 15th was way less successful but by December 3rd they have been killing 100 emu's per week.At the end of all the attacks, they have killed about 986 kills with 9,860 rounds of ammo.In addition they have injured 2,500 emu's.In conclusion that was about the Great Emu War.
