Faculty Member

The laboratory currently consists of three core staff members: the present author, Professor Shinsuke Ifuku; Associate Professor Masaaki Akamatsu; and Assistant Professor Soichi Tanaka. Their respective areas of expertise are bio-nanomaterial chemistry (Ifuku), colloid and interfacial science and supramolecular science (Akamatsu), and wood processing and wood physics (Tanaka). By leveraging their complementary expertise, the staff members work in close collaboration to advance their research activities.

In addition, four distinguished researchers are affiliated with the laboratory as specially appointed professors: Professor Hiroyuki Yano, a leading authority in nanocellulose-based composite materials; Professor Fumiaki Nakatsubo, an expert in cellulose and lignin chemistry; Professor Yasuki Matsumura, a specialist in food science; and Professor Arimitsu Usuki, a pioneer in polymer-based nanocomposite materials for automotive applications.
