The school was established in 1957 and covers the area about 5.2 hectares. It was Kaohsiung seventh-junior high school from the beginning. In 1998, it was restructured to six-year high school and had built new school buildings, hired senior high school teachers, added new teaching equipment and established the class of second language.

In 2005, it was established the Art class and the Physical Education class. Especially, the Physical Education class got brilliant results in weightlifting and excellent results in National competitions. The performance of the Art class has also been recognized by all walks of life.

In 1957, the school restructured from junior middle school, junior high school to six-year high school in August of 1997 under the order issued by the Ministry of Education. In 2002, it renamed to be senior high school until now.

Gushan Senior High School, near the Chai-Shan Natural Park and Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts, a high-quality school with a beautiful environment! There are abundant ecology in campus such as Taiwan macaques, red-bellied tree squirrels, horned owls and so on. It offers the best ecology teaching to the students.

A. The teaching buildings:

Our teaching buildings include Hongyi Building, Lixue Building and Dunpin Building, which were set up respectively in 2002, 1994 and 1991 respectively. The buildings contain general classrooms, computer rooms, laboratories and specialized classrooms with teaching facilities updated regularly.

B. The well-equipped library: A collection of 65000 books and 130 kinds of magazines, reading rooms, real-time online searching rooms, mini seminar rooms and video classrooms for international communication.

C. The sports and leisure facilities: Weightlifting hall, basketball court, volleyball court, tug-of-war practice court, billiard room, the entirely new artificial PP course and the sport equipments and outdoor recreation area.

D. Students performance space: The large-scale art and sports center, the art and culture center as well as the art gallery.
