Elementary students explore the basics of music theory, learning to read & write music, and perform at school concerts.
General Music: The general music classroom gives Manzanita Elementary School's students Kindergarten through fifth grades the ability to perform, create, respond and connect with music on a weekly basis during the school day. Students learn to read musical notation through singing and playing various musical instruments as well as compose short musical excerpts. Kingman Unified School District #20 employs certified music teachers to guide students through the context of the musical language and help students connect music to our world & other disciplines. The general music curriculum ties directly to the Arizona Academic Standards in Music and is the foundation of KUSD's comprehensive music program building bridges to participation in school band and choir programs leading through high school.
Manzanita Musical Dragons: Students grades 3-5 may further their singing & musical experiences by joining the after-school group. Choir members expand their vocal range and perform at school concerts & the KUSD Choral Festival.
Fifth Grade Beginning Band: Manzanita Elementary School offers fifth grade students the opportunity to learn to play a woodwind, brass or percussion instrument. Visit the KUSD Elementary Band website to learn more about this exciting opportunity.
Elementary students periodically perform at school concerts and events. Visit the KUSD Performing Arts Calendar for more details!
