Devoted to educating the whole child through the Four A’s in Academics, the Arts, Athletics & Activities, Kingman Unified School District #20 is proud to offer its students the opportunity to learn to play wind or percussion musical instruments. KUSD is readily known for its tradition of musical excellence locally and across Arizona in individual & large group competitions. From elementary to high school, students are provided opportunities to create music, relate it to cross-curricular content and evaluate musical performances outlined in the state music standards. Many children find success and increased self-esteem by participating in a music program. Musical experiences enhance a child’s academic achievement, problem-solving skills and teamwork leading to lifelong success.
Students may select a woodwind (flute, clarinet, saxophone), brass (trumpet, trombone) or percussion (bells & drums) instrument. Families may opt to rent, provide their own or request school-provided instrument (limited availability) with a one-time $25 use fee. Minimal playing supplies will be at the family’s expense.
Fundamental instruction is provided to the new musician, teaching students to read and write the musical language. Beginning band members are expected to attend band twice each week, make a yearlong commitment, practice outside of class, and perform in three evening concerts during the school year.
